Why I built Noticing
I'm Laura, the founder of Noticing, and I started it for a simple reason.
Like so many people, I want the people I love to keep living independently, in their own homes, for as long as possible. But I don't want to be constantly checking up on them. I just want to know they're OK, without being overbearing or making them feel watched.
I've spent the past 22 years working in live sports production at the highest level, where I've seen first-hand how real-time data helps teams spot small changes, make better decisions and act quickly when something isn't quite right.
I'm also a qualified primary school teacher, and I've seen the same principle in education. When a child's needs are recognised early, the right support can be put in place sooner, often making a real difference to their future.
Noticing brings that same thinking into everyday family life.
It uses simple signals from a parent's own phone to give families a little reassurance that they're up and about and going about their day. Over time, it builds a picture of their usual routine, helping families recognise small, gradual changes that might otherwise go unnoticed.
Because sometimes, knowing that something has changed is the first step towards understanding why.
My hope is that Noticing helps parents enjoy their independence for longer, while giving the people who love them peace of mind today and the chance to act sooner if something changes.
